My studio has a custom framing space and this means you can have beautifully framed, ready-to-hang special pieces. Here are the basics:

Frame Styles

The gallery on the left scrolls through examples of different framed works. I have tried to make choosing as simple as possible by offering a small selection of frames that clearly suit different spaces and styles. Further info is provided below about the various frame types.

Pick Up

I take a selection of popular framed pieces to markets, exhibitions and conventions, so if you are nearby this is the easiest way to get your hands on something.

If I am coming to a market near you and you have a specific print that you want framed please let me know a week in advance so it will definitely be ready for you to collect.

Shipping

Frames can generally be shipped. If you are interested send me a message so that I can advise shipping based on your location and the size of the framed print. As a guide, shipping is usually around $30 within Australia and $45 to the rest of the world.

Cost

Framing cost is based on print size. As an example a medium-sized print in one of the ornate frames is $149, which includes the print and frame.

Supporting Small Business

All frames are made by Dave in my Melbourne studio, so you are supporting a small business set up by people who love what they do. Materials for framing are sourced from local suppliers.

Choices

We offer three different types of frame so that you can find the perfect match for your special space.

Ornate Black

This is the most popular frame on the Mel Macklin shop. The black colour pops off a wall and complements the smokey eyes of many of my characters. This type of frame also has a sense of drama that marries well with the dark fairytales that are often a source of inspiration.

Ornate White

The ornate white frames have the same size and detailing as the black frames, but offer a creamy choice that helps the places they hang stay bright and airy. Though they are light the ornate detailing means that they retain the dramatic showpiece quality of the darker version.

Natural Oak or Blackwood

The natural oak frames are a light, modern style perfect for bright, design-oriented spaces. The wood has a lovely raw look, meaning no two frames are the same. The image above shows the lighter colour of the oak compared to the blackwood frame edges above it.
